Using scraps

I tend to take old scrap pieces of tile and brick and glue or mortar them onto a wall of some sort in random patterns...I even take old license plates and incorporate them into the randomness!

Creative Bar Stool

Postby CreativeIM on Thu Oct 25, 2007 10:51 am

I do not have any pics of the wall, but I did make this really neat bar stool out of old t-shirts, an old bar stool and a log. What I did was first take apart an old bar stool and upholster the entire thing....I used old cut up shirts that I sewed together, some foam backing and staples easy enough. Next I took the stand to the stool and painted it....metal spray paint worked well. Then I took and log and chainsaw cut it about 7" in depth and about 20"-24" in diameter. From there I centered the stool on the log to get placement...routered out the Logo "Hawkeyes", wood burned a quote on it...(I stained the wood at this point but you do not have to. I do recommend soaking the log in some mineral spirits or it may crack)...mounted the stool and wal-ah...so then I sat in it and realized that I had nowhere to put my feet. So I took some galvanized pipe, figuring my length and height and mounted to to the log....(you can find this in any hardware store). It was very easy once I figured out how to sew, but I got through it. So now I am wonder what other stools that I can make that are not sport oriented? Please post any ideas...
