Old Metal Picture/Photo Frames

Anyone have any creative ideas for re-purposing old dime store-ish metal picture frames?

Do you have a picture so I can get an idea of what it looks like?

dime store frames

Yeah, I am having a hard time picturing a size and style. Are they antique-ish, ornate, large or small?

Dime Store metal picture frames......

Postby halfpint on Tue Nov 20, 2007 4:35 pm

Hi Stargazer,

Why not make a family free using small pictures of your family framed in your dime stor metal frames. I had a lot of fun making a family tree for
my sister. I took a 12 x 12 piece of MDF, painted the background, and used expandable insolation foam, (I used the type that only expands about an inch.)

I just made a tree with limbs, and painted it with a couple different shades of brown paint. It is amazing how much the foam looks like the bark of a tree once painted. I attached pictures of our family using small
metal frames. She love it, and it turned out really cute!
